Erie Explosion Announce Coaching Staff for 2011

(Erie, PA) - The Erie Explosion, proud members of the Southern Indoor Football League, have announced their coaching staff for the 2011 season. Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta is proud of the group of talented coaches that he has assembled for the Explosion's run at the 2011 SIFL Championship. "I am pleased to return the core of coaches who have been with me over the past four seasons. Each brings a tremendous work ethic, attention to detail, and a great passion for the indoor game. We enjoy a great working relationship together, and each of these coaches has a great understanding of the unique indoor game," commented Liotta. One addition to the staff for 2011 is Director of Scouting Marcus James, who will bolster Coach Liotta's vast nationwide network of player contacts. "Marcus James is an exceptional evaluator of talent, and has discovered some outstanding athletes for our organization. He has a great understanding of the type of athlete that fits into our system, and the high character individuals that we attempt to bring into our organization. I expect several players that he has scouted and evaluated to make a major impact on our 2011 roster", commented Liotta.

Kirk Rearick- Assistant Head Coach

Kirk Rearick returns for his second season as assistant head coach, and will serve as the Defensive Coordinator for the Explosion in 2011. Rearick has worked with Coach Liotta for the past five seasons spending time in Pittsburgh, Erie, and Wheeling. He has served as an assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, offensive and defensive line coach, and special teams coordinator at the professional indoor level. Coach Rearick has the additional experience of serving as a high school coach in Western Pennsylvania over the past eight seasons. Rearick played collegiately at Thiel College where he received his undergraduate degree, and possesses a masters degree from Duquesne University.

Jeremy Liotta- Assistant Coach

Jeremy Liotta returns for his second season as Director of Player Personnel and Assistant Coach. He has served in a variety of roles over the past five seasons including special teams coordinator, and has coached fullbacks/ linebackers, and served as an offensive quality control coach in Pittsburgh, Erie, and Wheeling. He has the additional experience of serving as a coach at the high school level over the past six seasons. Jeremy Liotta is a graduate of the Allegheny County Police Academy and is currently serving as a municipal police officer.

Edward Marin - Assistant Coach

Ed Marin returns for his third season in Erie as an assistant coach. Over the past three years he has served as a special teams coordinator and as a defensive backs coach for the Erie Storm and the Erie RiverRats. Marin gained additional front office experience by serving as the Erie Storm General Manager for the 2010 season. In his position as the General Manager, Marin was responsible for various administrative functions including organizing travel, team meal plan, and player housing for the 2010 season. Marin is a native and graduate of Meadville High School.

Marcus D. James - Director of Scouting

Marcus James joins the Erie franchise as Director of Scouting for the 2011 season. James who played collegiately at Temple University and for the Philadelphia Stars of the USFL, has developed a reputation as a top evaluator and developer of talent for the indoor/arena level across the country. Coach James has served as a position trainer and has conducted player combines all across the country searching for athletes who can compete at the professional level. James has served as a consultant and scouting director for several IFL, SIFL, and various other professional leagues. His family owned scouting, individual training, and representation service has clients in multiple professional leagues. Demarcus James the son of Marcus, recently signed with the Dallas Vigilantes of the Arena Football League after outstanding IFL MVP seasons with the Alaska Wild and the Richmond Revolution. His son Christopher is currently a sophomore at Shorter College where he is a wrestler.

Herman Brown- Equipment Manager

Herman Brown returns for his third season in Erie as the teams equipment manager. Mr. Brown plays an integral role in the teams practice and game equipment coordination needs, and also assists with the teams travel logistics and equipment needs and inventory. His tireless work ethic and attention to detail make him a vital asset to the franchise.

Zaccur Isaac - Recruiting Assistant

Zaccur Issac will enter his first season with the Erie Explosion franchise serving as the recruiting assistant. Issac will work with Erie Explosion scouting department to identify and evaluate prospects particularly in the southern region. Isaac has served as the CEO of UltimateSportsRecruiting.com, LLC since its debut in 2010. In this role, he is responsible for the businesses strategic planning, sports recruiting operations, and administrative functions of the successful recruiting website.
