Erie Otters News Release

The Erie Otters, coming into the game against rival London Knights on a 4-game win-streak, continued its dominance at the Erie Insurance Arena by defeating the London Knights.

The Otters, surging with momentum from a strong powerplay effort, scored first. Alex DeBrincat burst through the London defenders with linemate Taylor Raddysh, whose tic-tac-toe passing play set DeBrincat up for the one-time shot and goal. Erie would score again at 9:53 of the first period during a chaotic scramble in front of the London net to make it 2-0; Kyle Pettit was credited with the goal, his third of the season, with assists coming from Alex DeBrincat and Taylor Raddysh. London fought back in the second half of the first, however, and Max Jones scored a late goal at 19:30 to pull the Knights within one heading into the second period.

Erie waited no time in the second period getting back on the scoreboard. Carson Edwardson sent a hard shot past London goaltender Tyler Parsons' glove and in for his first career OHL goal to make it 3-1 Erie. Parsons made several key saves to keep London in the game, denying opportunities from Brett Neumann, Kyle Maksimovich, and Allan McShane to prevent Erie from increasing its two goal lead early in the second period. The Otters would eventually break through Parsons late in the second when DeBrincat chipped in a bouncing puck, and Erie headed into the third period up 4-1.

Ivan Lodnia banked a shot off Tyler Parsons from behind the net to give Erie a solid 5-1 lead at the beginning of the third period. Parsons was pulled in favor of Tyler Johnson, who manned the net for London. Jordan Sambrook walked in from the point to score on Johnson shortly after the goaltender change at 6:52, and Kyle Pettit scored his second of the game to give Erie an insurmountable 7-1 lead.

Kyle Pettit had two goals for Erie; Taylor Raddysh notched four assists; and Alex DeBrincat scored two goals and two assists to earn him the first star of the night. Troy Timpano saved 19 of 20 shots for the Erie win; he remains undefeated in his four starts this season. Tyler Parsons, the 54th overall selection for Calgary in the 2016 NHL Draft, made 18 saves on 23 shots before being pulled for Tyler Johnson, who saved 10 of his 12 shots in the loss for London.

Erie goes back on the road to face the Niagara Icedogs on October 19, entering the game on a five game win-streak.
