Spokane Empire News Release

SPOKANE, Washington- The Empire have partnered with The Chamber Football Academy of Chamber Fitness for a second year to serve as the official host of the team's off-season tryout in South Florida in preparation for the 2017 IFL season.

The off-season tryout will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at The Chamber located at 10650 W. State Rd. 84 in Davie, Florida. Registration will begin on-site at approximately 8:00 a.m. local time with the workout beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Kickers are also welcome to attend the tryout but are not required to participate in the agility drills and testing. Kicker registration will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m. at The Chamber. Testing will commence after the primary skill position tryouts have concluded. Kickers will perform onside kicks and kickoffs. Field goal testing for distance and accuracy will take place off-site with further details to be released at a later date.

"We are very excited to work with The Chamber Football Academy for the second straight year and are thankful for Chris Chambers and his staff for allowing us to utilize their facility," said Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford. "Last year we had an extremely successful tryout in Florida where we found Trevor Kennedy. We have high expectations going into this offseason and we will once again be guaranteeing at least one contract from this tryout for a player to join us for our 2017 IFL Training Camp to compete for a position on our regular season roster."

Participants may pre-register online for the workout at the price of $50 at www.Empire.MyCustomEvent.com. Registration on-site the day of the event will be available for $60 (cash only). Participants will receive a t-shirt as a part of their registration fees. They will also be required to fill out a participation waiver before performing any testing or drills.

The workout will be in a pro-style combine fashion with speed and agility testing as well as field work. Participants will be led through a brief warm up and stretch routine compliments of Chamber Fitness staff. They will then test in the 40-yard dash, short shuttle, and broad jump. Offensive and defensive line positions will also be tested in the bench press (225 lbs.).

Once the testing portion has concluded, participants will be broken up into position categories and led through individual position drills. After position drills, skill position players will go into an outdoor period including 1-on-1's and pass skelly.

Participants are encouraged to bring both indoor training or soccer style shoes as well as cleats. A majority of the testing will be performed outside on a natural grass surface. They should also bring any other performance gear, braces, gloves, or equipment they may need to perform.

Questions should be sent to the Empire Head Coach Adam Shackleford at shack@spokaneempire.com.

The Empire plan to hold additional tryouts in the winter of 2016-17. Information and dates for those events will be published shortly.
