Empire Announces 2017 Dance Team Tryouts

SPOKANE, Washington (November 16, 2015) - The Spokane Empire and Spokane Elite Dance Studio have announced the Empire Dance Team registration and tryout schedule in preparation for the 2017 IFL season.
Dance Team Tryouts will take place on Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Spokane Elite Dance Studio located at 11606 E Sprague Ave in Spokane Valley. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with in-studio instruction beginning at 9:00 a.m. All participants must be 18 or older at the time of the tryout (January 8, 2016).
Tryouts will be led by Dance Team Directors Maggie Kazemba and Casandra Maher. Tryouts are a closed event and not open to public viewing. Participants should wear form-fitting, two-piece dance outfits and comfortable shoes. Performance attire must be all black. No jazz pants or baggy pants will be allowed; please wear dance briefs or boy shorts. All black sports bras are acceptable. It is suggested that participants bring make-up, hair products, a towel, bottle of water and a snack.
All participants will learn one routine taught by dance team directors and perform in small groups for the first round of the tryouts. In small groups, the participants will perform the routine in front of the panel of judges which consist of Empire Dance Team Directors and Empire Front Office Staff. The first cuts will be announced after the completion of the first round performances.
All finalists will learn one additional routine and will be interviewed before the final round of tryouts. Interviews will be conducted in small groups. Participants will not be required to change out of their tryout attire but can bring a light jacket, sweater or t-shirt to put on over their tryout outfit. For the final round of the tryouts, the finalists will perform both routines in front of the panel of judges. The 2017 Empire Dance Team will be announced following final cuts.
REGISTRATION & PREP CLASSES
Pre-Registration is currently available for a fee of $25 online at www.empire.mycustomevent.com until Friday, January 6, 2017. Registration, the day of the tryout, will take place beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 8 at the cost of $35 (cash only). Participants will also be required to complete an application, waiver forms, and must supply a 5" x 7" or larger head-shot. The head-shot will be used for identification purposes only and will non-returnable. Registration forms are available online at www.SpokaneEmpire.com.
Prep classes are being offered for prospective participants at Spokane Elite Dance Studio located at 11606 E Sprague Ave in Spokane Valley. The classes will take place Friday, December 2, 2016, and Friday, December 30 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Participants are not required to attend prep classes but are highly encouraged. Classes are available at the cost of $15 per class or two for $20. Registration for the prep classes will be handled on-site the day of the classes at Spokane Elite Dance Studio.
