Elmira's Cheverie Named Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Marc Cheverie of the Elmira Jackals is the Warrior Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Month for October.

The 23-year-old went 3-1-0 with one shutout, a 1.52 goals-against average and a save percentage of .953 in four appearances during the month, helping the Jackals to a 5-1-0 record during the first month of the season.

Cheverie began the month with three consecutive wins, making 34 saves in a 3-2 win against Reading on Oct. 12, turning aside 26 shots in a 7-1 victory over Greenville on Oct. 13 and stopping all 30 shots he faced in a 5-0 win over Wheeling on Oct. 20. He was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week for the first weekend of the season.

A native of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Cheverie ranks fourth in the ECHL with a 1.52 goals-against average and is third with a .953 save percentage.

A seventh-round selection (193rd overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Cheverie has appeared in 56 career ECHL games with Elmira, Gwinnett and Cincinnati posting an overall record of 26-14-9 with five shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.83 and a save percentage of .906. Cheverie has also appeared in 24 career American Hockey League games with Rochester and Portland.

Runners Up: Mark Guggenberger, Alaska (4-1-0, 1.41 GAA, .934 save pct.), Joe Fallon, Las Vegas (3-0-1, 1.96 GAA, .912 save pct.) and Andrew Engelage, Utah (5-1-0, 2.27 GAA, .933 save pct.).
