Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, N.Y. - January 2, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have received a pair of players from their affiliates. The Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League have reassigned Darren Kramer to Elmira from the American Hockey League's Binghamton Senators, and Danny New has been loaned to the Jackals by Binghamton.
Kramer, a rookie forward, has logged five points (3G, 2A) in eight games with the Jackals. The 21-year-old native of Peace River, Alberta, had a four-game point streak (3G1A) from the night of his Jackals debut on November 7 to November 14. Kramer has been out of the lineup since sustaining an injury on November 30 vs. Wheeling. A sixth round draft pick (#156 overall) of Ottawa in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Kramer made his pro debut with the Binghamton Senators on October 21 at Hershey.
New, a rookie defenseman, has nine points (1G, 8A) in 17 games with the Jackals and is their top-scoring first year player. The former Providence College blueliner has missed Elmira's last 13 games after suffering an injury on December 1 at Trenton. Last spring New logged a pair of games with the AHL's Springfield Falcons on an Amateur Tryout after finishing his collegiate career and notched three points (1G, 2A), but he has yet to suit up for Binghamton.
