TRENTON, N.J. - March 17, 2013 - The Elmira Jackals celebrate Saint Patrick's Day by paying a visit to their Atlantic Division rivals, the Trenton Titans. After being held to one goal in their last two games, the Jackals are looking for an offensive breakthrough to lead them to victory.

The Jackals are facing the Titans tonight for the 13th of 16 meetings and eighth of eight at Sun National Bank Center. The Jackals are 7-4-1 against Trenton this season which includes a 4-2-1 mark on the road. The Jackals have won more road games in Trenton than any other building in the ECHL this season, but their last trip here snapped a two game win streak. For a Jackals team that has scored one goal in its last two games, coming to Trenton may be just what the doctor ordered. Elmira has scored 32 goals in seven games in Trenton which averages out to 4.6 per contest. Trenton's defense, meanwhile, ranks 17th in the league with a 3.4 team goals-against average.
Elmira has qualified for the Kelly Cup Playoffs in each of its first five seasons in the ECHL. Its quest for a sixth straight berth is coming to a head. With at least one standings point in ten of their last 13 games (7-3-3) the Jackals have reduced their magic number to clinch a playoff spot to 11. The magic number is reduced any time the Jackals earn a point in a game or the ninth place team fails to earn a point in a game. If the chips fall in just the right way, the Jackals could clinch a spot as early as Friday, March 22.
