The Jackals are facing the Nailers tonight for the fourth of 10 meetings this season and the first of five at WesBanco Arena. The Jackals are 2-1-0 against the Nailers this season, but Wheeling won the last meeting by a 4-2 score at First Arena on November 30. Elmira is 11-9-2 in its history at WesBanco Arena after going 3-4-1 here last season. The Nailers and the Jackals have been two of the busiest teams in the ECHL over the last two weeks. Elmira is playing its fifth game in eight days while Wheeling is playing its seventh in nine. At this point of the season the Nailers are tied for the fewest games played at 25 while Elmira is tied for second fewest at 26.

Special teams will be a key focal point in the two-game series between the Jackals and Nailers this weekend. Power plays will be critical, but hard to come by. The Jackals have the second-fewest times shorthanded in the ECHL at 100 while Wheeling is at seventh fewest 107. The Jackals and Nailers will do well to stay out of the box as much as possible because Wheeling ranks fifth on the power play at home at 25 percent while Elmira is fourth in the league on the road on the power play at 20.7 percent . The Jackals will have to contend with a Wheeling penalty kill unit that ranks first at home with a 91.1 percent success rate. Elmira, on the other hand, is 18th on the road on the penalty kill at 75 percent.

Mark your calendars! The Jackals are back on First Arena ice on Friday, January 4, 2013 to take on the Reading Royals at 7:05 p.m. Join the Jackals for Dave Clark Foundation night and help us celebrate his achievements!
