Ellis Returns to BayBears, Clifford Let Go

HOOVER, Ala. (May 21) - Prior to tonight's doubleheader between the Mobile BayBears and Birmingham Barons at Regions Park, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the BayBears have made the following roster moves. OF Pete Clifford has been released by the organization. Clifford hit .236 with 4 home runs for the BayBears in 2009 and was off to a slow start this season with a .182 average and 7 runs batted in. To replace Clifford on the roster, RHP Josh Ellis has been sent to the BayBears from Triple-A Reno. Ellis posted a 1.94 ERA for the BayBears last season and a 4.26 mark in 11 outings this year for the Aces. The BayBears now have 24 active players with 0 on the disabled list.
