July 2, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Pacific Coast League announced today that Salt Lake Bees infielder Efren Navarro has been named a 2013 Pacific Coast League All-Star. Navarro will suit up for the 26th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, slated for July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nev. when the PCL squad takes on the International League All-Stars at the home of the PCL's Reno Aces. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. MT and the game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network.

Navarro, a 27-year-old native of Lynwood, Calif. and former UNLV Rebel, is currently in his third season as a first baseman with the Bees. In 78 games with Salt Lake in 2013, he owns a team-leading .349 batting average with 48 runs, 101 hits, 24 doubles, five home runs, 51 RBI, 142 total bases and a .435 on-base percentage. His batting average and doubles currently rank fourth in the PCL while his on-base percentage ranks second.

Originally selected by the Angels in the 50th round of the 2007 Draft, Navarro made his major league debut with the Angels on September 2, 2011 against the Minnesota Twins and recorded his first major league hit on September 28, 2011 against the Texas Rangers. A 2011 recipient of the Rawlings Golden Glove Award, Navarro led all PCL first basemen last season with a .997 fielding percentage and holds a .992 fielding percentage in 2013. This marks his first All-Star selection at the Triple-A level.

With the PCL's 3-0 victory in the 2012 Triple-A All-Star Game in Buffalo, N.Y., the PCL has closed the gap on the International League's lead to 8-7 in the 15 years since the event changed to the current IL vs. PCL format. The winning league this season will once again earn the right to have its champion play as the "home team" at the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game which will take place on Tuesday, September 17 in Allentown, Pa., home of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

Additional information about the 2013 Triple-A All-Star Game and its festivities can be found on the official websites of the Pacific Coast League (www.pclbaseball.com), the International League (www.ilbaseball.com), and the Reno Aces (www.renoaces.com).

The Bees return to Spring Mobile Ballpark on July 4 to take on the Tacoma Rainiers at 7:05 p.m. with a postgame fireworks show. For tickets, call (801) 325-BEES or visit slbees.com.
