The Kelowna Rockets fell 3-2 to the Edmonton Oil Kings at Prospera Place on Saturday night.

Rockets Captain Cal Foote(15) got Kelowna on the board first at 5:34 of the first frame with a one-timer from the blue line that found it's way to the back of the net. Conner McDonald(5) responded on an Oil Kings power play to even things at 1-1 at 11:58. The score remained tied at 1-1 through 20 minutes of play.

In the middle stanza Braydyn Chizen(5) pulled the Rockets back ahead by one after snapping a point shot through traffic at 5:52. Former Rockets forward Tomas Soustal(16) scored for the Oil Kings at 15:09 to even things up once again. The game was knotted 2-2 after 40 minutes.

After a back and forth third period, regulation time solved nothing, and the game needed overtime.

In the extra frame both teams traded chances but neither could finish and the game required a shootout.

The shootout went as follows:

Dillon Dube: Miss

Colton Kehler: Miss

Carsen Twarynski: Miss

Trey Fix-Wolansky: Goal

Leif Mattson: Miss
