Bloomington Edge News Release

Bloomington, IL - The Bloomington Edge will be welcoming several local and out -of- town recruits to their annual training camp in February to finalize their official roster for the upcoming 2016 season.

"We recruited extensively on the offense this year to catch up with the top ranked defense from last season. The defense will also be adding several outstanding players," said Coach Wendell Covert. The Edge will be hosting training camp from February 20 -March 1st, at which point they will cut the 35 man camp to the official 25 player roster.

The Edge tryouts in December, yielded a historically large turnout of 40 potential players.

After tryouts and scouting, the coaches selected 15 local players (within 60 miles), including 8 from the try outs. They also brought in 12 recruits from other professional indoor leagues and college programs.

"This camp will be the most talented I have seen in my three years with the program," said Coach Covert. QB Jonathan Bane is a former league MVP, and we have tremendous talent with local ISU running back Darrylynn Dunn, EIU back Andre Raymond, and U of I's Daniel Dufrene." Covert went on to mention that the Edge will prioritize the offensive line to provide a high-octane offense that includes one of the best wide receiving corps in indoor football.

The Edge home opener will take place on March 6, 2016 against the Omaha Beef at their home field in U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Season tickets and group tickets are now available.
