Edge Continue to Build Defense with Acquisition of Ridley, Billups

Bloomington, IL - The Edge are continuing to expand defensive roles with the acquisition of defensive backs Kenneth Ridley Jr. and Shawn Billups Jr., the team announced today. Both men were on the roster of the Green Bay Blizzard last season.
Ridley (5'10, 190), the New Jersey Native, played at Morgan State, where he recorded 20 solo tackles with 10 passes defended and a team-high four interceptions before signing with the Green Bay Blizzard last season. In eight appearances for the Blizzard, Ridley made 21 tackles, 18 of them solo, while notching four pass breakups. Ridley also recorded one fumble for 27 yards last season and was named as the IFL Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 13 efforts.
"Kenny and Shawn will both be great assets to our team," Edge head coach Ameer Ismail said. "Kenny got some great experience last year in eight games with the Blizzard, so I look forward to see what he can do with a full season under his belt."
Billups (5'9, 165) finished his career at Concord University with nine solo tackles, 12 assisted tackles and one interception. While the New York native signed with the Green Bay Blizzard last season, he didn't appear in any games.
"I'm proud to be here and thankful for the opportunity, it's truly a blessing," Billups reflected. "I'm going to give it my all every play to help bring a [championship] ring to this organization."
