Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two-time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," announced its annual "Easy Being Green" event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Mar. 8-9 at Stockton Arena for two games against the Las Vegas Wranglers at 7:30 p.m.
"Thunder's Easy Being Green" is presented by Port of Stockton California with California Water Service Company, The Solar Company, The Surtec System, KAT Country 103, 99.3 KJOY and 97.7/98.3 KWIN.
The event, held in conjunction with the Stockton Chamber of Commerce's "Green Team San Joaquin," unites hockey and community involvement with an eco-friendly campaign for both games. Stockton Arena's concourse will once again be transformed into a "Green Fair" that invites all fans in attendance to visit booths hosted by local environmentally friendly organizations in the goal of educating attendees on environmental issues and eco-friendly products. Doors will open beginning at 6:30 p.m. both nights.
During the game, Diamond Foods will be presented as winner of this year's "Easy Being Green" award - selected in conjunction with the Chamber's "Green Team San Joaquin." Two dollars from each ticket sold and a portion of the event proceeds will benefit the United Way of San Joaquin County on behalf of Diamond Foods.
Fans can show their support by taking home a special player poster with an eco-friendly twist on Friday, free to the first 4,000 fans in attendance. Also, the first 1,000 fans in attendance for Saturday's game will take home a collectible eco-friendly water bottle.
On the way out, each household will take home a free tree sapling, courtesy of and grown by the San Joaquin Delta College Horticulture Program.
Last year's event drew over 13,500 fans for two games to Stockton Arena.
A two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," the Thunder led the ECHL in attendance for four consecutive seasons and drew over 200,000 fans for the seventh consecutive season in 2011-12. Season Tickets, Group Tickets and Mini-Plans are on sale now.
