Eastern League Season Preview

March 23, 2017 - Eastern League (EL)

The Akron RubberDucks swept their way to title winners in 2016. Their manager, Dave Wallace, knew he had the perfect recipe for success, making it no surprise as they emerged as champions.

The RubberDucks claimed their first title in 2012, through a three consecutive games sweep of Trenton with a 2-1 victory. At 2016 championship game, two relievers and Nick Pasquale combined on a four-hitter at Hammer Park and Arm. It was a big victory for the team having lost several players such as Clint Frazier to the Yankees and Bradley Zimmer to Columbus, but Eric Haase being the top of the helped the team to acquire the Eastern League victory.

For any possibility of future success, getting at-bats and innings sent to the minor leagues from big league camp can be a blessing. Yankees have reassigned more than 10 prospects and left-hander, Justus Sheffield, as host teams proceeded to reduce their Spring Training roster.

Several teams are looking for a competitive league in 2017, which to a degree can hard to predict. The New York Yankees\' young stars and the Boston Red Sox will headline a heated contention in the American League East. Unfortunately for New York and the others in the division, the Red Sox are moving clear to the cut-front runners to take the division in 2017.

Commentators portray the Eastern League to be a competitive league with different teams having a good shot at finishing the season as the 2017 champions.
