The Eastern League is pleased to announce the winners of the Eastern League Player of the Week Award and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Award for the week ending May 23rd:

New Britain Rock Cats outfielder Ben Revere has been named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the week ending May 23rd. Revere, who entered the season rated by Baseball America as the fifth best prospect in the Twins organization, batted .538 (14-for-26) with two doubles, one triple, four runs scored, three RBI, five walks, five stolen bases and a .692 slugging percentage in six games during the week. Ben, who turned 22-years old earlier this month, had multiple hits in five of the six games he played in last week, including three three-hit performances. The 5'9", 175 lb. speedster led all Eastern League players in batting average, hits, stolen bases and on-base percentage (.613) last week and ranked second in total bases (18). Revere, who is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, currently ranks second in the league in stolen bases (16), is tied for fourth in hits (16) and is sixth in the league in batting average (.324). Ben, who was a Florida State League All-Star last season after batting .311 with 75 runs scored and 45 stolen bases in 121 games with the Fort Myers Miracle, was selected by the Minnesota Twins with the 28th overall pick in the first round of the 2007 draft out of Lexington Catholic High School in Kentucky.
