Earthquakes Midfielder Cordell Cato to Join Trinidad & Tobago for Upcoming Friendly

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Cordell Cato was among 22 players called to camp for Trinidad & Tobago ahead of their upcoming friendly against New Zealand.

Cato, 21, is aiming to earn his first cap for the Soca Warriors. He will depart for his home country after the Earthquakes' match against the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Trinidad & Tobago hosts New Zealand in an exhibition match on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain.

The speedy winger has been a regular in San Jose's starting lineup since August. He has one goal and two assists in 17 games, eight of which were starts. The Earthquakes acquired Cato for a fourth round MLS Supplemental Draft pick from Seattle Sounders FC on March 1, 2013.

San Jose hosts the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at Buck Shaw Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. PT on Comcast SportsNet California, 1590 KLIV and 1370 KZSF.
