Early Scoring Helps Charge Defeat Eagles

July 25, 2017 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) News Release

SAN MARCOS, TX - After two tough losses, the Texas Charge got back into the win column with a 6-0 victory over Beijing Saturday night at Bobcat Softball Field.

The Charge got the clutch hits to build an early lead and rode two-hit pitching of Dallas Escobedo. The Charge starter, who carried a no-hitter through six innings in last Wednesday's 5-3 loss to Akron, was even stronger, striking out 13 and allowing three baserunners.

The Charge gave her a cushion, building an early 3-0 lead and adding insurance in the sixth.

Bailey Landry started the scoring with a one-out single in the second. She stole second and raced home when Kristyn Sandberg laced a single to left.

Nadia Taylor zapped a solo home run in the third. In the fourth, Sandberg singled. Haley Outon took over the base-running chores and moved to third on Renada Davis' double before crossing the plate on a wild pitch.

Sandberg played a part in the Charge's run in the sixth when she walked and scored on Mysha Sataraka's double. New Braunfels' products Brittany Gomez and Mandy Ogle followed with singled that led to runs.

During Escobedo's last outing, the Charge collapsed in the seventh as Akron tied the score with a three-run home before scoring the winning runs in the eighth.

The Charge had a little tension again as a single and error enabled Beijing to stage a potential rally. Escobedo got through the ordeal, wrapping up the game with a strikeout.
