Early Goal Haunts IceRays in 4-1 Loss

FRISCO, TEXAS - The Corpus Christi IceRays fell behind early in the first period, and couldn't overcome a 2-0 deficit and lost their second game in a row to the Texas Tornado 4-1 inside the Dr Pepper Arena on Saturday night.
The scoring started just 50 seconds into the game on a shot from the point that got deflected by Mitchell Mueller and past Ben Myers to give the Tornado a 1-0 lead.
They moved out to a 2-0 lead as Andrew Mayer picked up his first of the night on a loose puck in front of the net that Mayer slid under the right leg pad of Myers at 11:17 of the first frame.
In the second period Perry D'Arrisso split the lead in half just 55 seconds in. After forcing a turnover, D'Arrisso picked up the puck and fired it top shelf on Hunter Leisner decreasing the lead to 2-1.
Mayer then struck again at 3:52 of the second. After blocking a shot, he walked in on a breakaway and beat Ben Myers increasing the lead back to two goals.
In the third, Jason Eddy tacked on an empty net goal to seal the 4-1 win.
Ben Myers stopped 33 of 36 shots in the loss.
