Rio Grande Valley FC Toros News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Dynamo announced Friday the club has waived midfielder Memo Rodriguez and defender Taylor Hunter. Both players have signed with the Rio Grande Valley FC Toros.

Rio Grande Valley FC is the Dynamo's new hybrid affiliate set to debut in the USL this March. Led by head coach Wilmer Cabrera, the first RGV FC training camp is underway in Edinburg, Texas.

"We are pleased to announce that Memo and Taylor will be continuing their professional development within the Houston Dynamo system with RGV FC. Both players are highly dedicated individuals that understand what's involved in the process to develop as a professional player," Dynamo VP/general manager Matt Jordan said. "This is another important example of how the Houston Dynamo is evolving as a club with vertical integration between our First Team, RGVFC and Academy. Both players will be monitored closely by our First Team staff."

Rodriguez signed as a Homegrown Player in December 2014 and spent most of the 2015 season on loan with the Charleston Battery of the USL. Hunter started one regular-season game and appeared in two U.S. Open Cup matches last season after he was selected in the fourth round of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft.

Transaction: Dynamo waive midfielder Memo Rodriguez and defender Taylor Hunter.

The Dynamo open the 2016 MLS season on Saturday, March 6 when they host the New England Revolution at BBVA Compass Stadium. Season tickets for the 2016 season are available now starting at $385, and single-game tickets for the home opener are available starting at $25.
