AMARILLO, TEXAS The Amarillo Dusters announced today the assignment from the arenafootball2 League Office of former Albany Conquest linebacker and defensive end, Michael Gerard Lewis II.

"Michael brings much needed experience and knowledge to the Dusters," said Chris MacKeown, head coach for the Amarillo Dusters.

The 6'2', 250 lb. Lewis joins the Dusters as a linebacker/defensive end. He spent last season with the Albany Conquest, also of af2. Lewis had more than 40 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries, and two touchdowns with the Albany Conquest.

"He has shown that he can do well at this level and is working hard in the off-season to step up his game to the next level," MacKeown said.

Lewis attended Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. He was a four-year starter on the football team and a two-year starter on the Adrian College basketball team. He graduated in 2005 with a bachelors degree in Mass Mediated Communication.

Lewis holds several school records, including sacks in a single season, sacks in a single game, career sacks, and career tackles for loss. He was recognized outside of college for his accomplishments, being named as a first-team All-American in 2005.

"Michael is a very good athlete who plays hard every snap," MacKeown said. "He has the ability to play well at many positions."

Catch Lewis and the rest of the Amarillo Dusters at the home opener on April 5. 2008 season tickets are on sale now. Call the box office to reserve your seats and receive exclusive season ticket holder benefits. Call (806) 350-7277 or visit www.dustersfootball.com for more information.
