Dupuis Named First-Team All-ECHL

Bakersfield, Calif. - The ECHL office announced today that Condors D Guy Dupuis has been selected to the All-ECHL Team in a vote of all ECHL coaches. Dupuis becomes the first Condors to pick up an individual honor from the ECHL.

Dupuis, 35, ranks first among Condors defensemen in every offensive category and has played in every game this season. He is the oldest player ever selected to an All-ECHL squad. The Moncton, New Brunswick native is in his second season in Bakersfield, also suiting up for the Condors in 2002-03. He has played on the two Condors teams with the highest win and point totals in team history.

Entering play this weekend, Dupuis is second in assists (34) and tied for fourth on the team in points (45) and leads the club with a +27. He leads all ECHL defenseman with 288 shots (second overall in the ECHL) and is second among blueliners in +/- (fifth overall). Dupuis was named captain of the West All- Star Team at the 2005 Coors Light ECHL All-Star Game in Reading, PA in January.

Scott Gomez (Alaska), Carl Mallette (Toledo) and Chris Minard (Alaska) were the forwards selected First Team All-ECHL, Ray DiLauro (Wheeling) was the other defenseman and Chris Madden (Florida) is the goaltender. Madden was acquired by the Everblades at the trade deadline and is currently in the AHL. Every game for him this season in the ECHL was played with Long Beach, meaning four of the six players selected suited up in the West Division this season.

The Condors return to home ice to host Idaho tonight and Saturday night in the final two games of the regular season. Tonight the Condors welcome Dora the Explorer to town to entertain the kids, courtesy of Bright House Networks and KLLY 95.3. On Saturday night, one fan will win a home makeover patio giveaway from Sunshine Sunroom and Patio, sponsored by KKEY-TV 11 and KUZZ 107.9. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.

The opening round of the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 12th. The last spot in the West Division is still up for grabs with the Fresno Falcons trailing the fourth-place Condors by just two points in the standings. They host Long Beach tonight and Saturday in their final two games of the regular season.
