Dunn Doubles Home a Run on Quiet Night

May 11, 2013 - Midwest League (MWL1) - Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release

Bowling Green, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods (21-12) were held to a season-low two hits in a 6-1 series-opening loss to the Lake County Captains (12-20) Saturday night at Bowling Green Ballpark. Ryan Dunn doubled home a run in the bottom of the eighth inning for the only Hot Rods offense of the night. Lake County's Dylan Baker allowed one hit in six shutout innings for his first professional win.

The Captains took a commanding lead with one swing of the bat in the top of the fourth inning. After a two-out Tyler Goeddel error allowed the inning to continue with runners at first and third base, Jorge Martinez connected for a three-run home run to right field. The very next inning, Erik Gonzalez smacked a solo home run to the Home Run Grill in left field to give Lake County a 4-0 lead.

Meanwhile, the Hot Rods offense was stymied by the Captains. After a Marty Gantt one-out walk in the bottom of the second, Lake County retired 17 straight Hot Rods hitters in a stretch that lasted until another Gantt walk to lead off the eighth inning. Dunn's double scored Gantt from first base to provide the Hot Rods with their first and only run of the contest. Including the postseason, Lake County has now won seven straight games over the Hot Rods.

The series continues Sunday afternoon at 2:05 PM as the Hot Rods look to even the series at a game apiece. The Hot Rods will send RHP Taylor Guerrieri (1-1, 2.45) to the mound, while the Captains will counter with RHP Luis DeJesus (0-2, 6.30). Join Hank Fuerst and Chris Kleinhans-Schulz for the Forever Communications Pregame Show at 1:35 PM CDT, and listen to the action on 1340 "The Ticket" WBGN-AM, 1340WBGN.com, and BGHotRods.com.

Sunday is an All-You-Can-Eat Day at the ballpark where $12 gets fans admission to the game and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, and nachos through the middle of the seventh inning. Visit BGHotRods.com for ticket information and other upcoming promotions at Bowling Green Ballpark.
