Dunedin Blue Jays News Release
DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (60-74) dropped the final home game of the 2015 regular season, 9-8, to the Clearwater Threshers (77-57) on Thursday night. Anthony Alford, Matt Dean and Jorge Saez each homered during the contest.
Clearwater jumped out to an early 4-0 advantage during its first at-bats of the ballgame, but the D-Jays came back in the home half of third with two runs. Ian Parmley led the inning off with a single and a couple of batters later he scored on Anthony Alford's third homer of the season.
Clearwater tacked on an insurance run in the fourth to extend their lead to 5-2, but that advantage was short lived. Alford opened the inning with his second hit of the game and scored on an RBI-single by L.B. Dantzler. Matt Dean then blasted his team-leading 13th homer of the season off the top of the batter's eye in centerfield.
The Threshers plated three more runs in the eighth and ninth to take a 9-5 edge, but Dunedin again came storming back with three ninth-inning runs to bring the game score to 9-8. Saez led off by drilling the D-Jays third homer of the game over the left field wall. Andy Fermin capped the scoring by sending L.B. Dantzler and Derrick Loveless home on a single. Ulises Joaquin was able to close the door after allowing three runs to just hang on for the win.
Alonzo Gonzalez went four innings allowing five runs, he did not factor into the decision. Brad Allen suffered the loss for Dunedin and Cody Forsythe earned the win for Clearwater.
The Dunedin Blue Jays head across town for the final series of the 2015 regular season. The Jays will take on the Clearwater Threshers in a three-game series at Brighthouse Field beginning tomorrow, Friday, September 4th. Derek Blacksher will open the series for Dunedin on the mound and he will be countered by John Richy for Clearwater.
