Duffey had no trouble executing a strong first inning. Duffey picked up his first strikeout of the game, and he forced a flyout and a groundout. Monday's game was Duffey's first start in Rochester since April 18; he was optioned to the Wings on Friday.

In the bottom of the first inning with one out, Beresford notched the first hit of the evening. He hit a slow roller towards RailRiders starter Brady Lail, but Lail's toss to first base went past Cito Culver, allowing Beresford to safely make his way to first base. With two outs, Lail walked Adam Brett Walker which put runners on first and second base for the Red Wings. Kennys Vargas popped out behind home plate to end the inning, stranding two of his teammates on base heading into the second inning.

To kick off the bottom of the second inning, Daniel Palka hit a sharp grounder down the first base line, giving Culver some difficulty fielding and Palka his first hit of the game. With one out, John Ryan Murphy hit a single that rolled past Donovan Solano and Pete Kozma, putting runners on first and second base. Heiker Meneses followed up with the third single of the inning, which loaded up the bases for Rochester. During the next at-bat Byron Buxton hit a sacrifice fly, which gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead over the RailRiders. Beresford followed up with a RBI single to increase Rochester's lead to 2-0.

Walker led off in the bottom of the third inning, and was walked for the second time in the game. He stole second base which put the Red Wings in scoring position early in the inning. It was Walker's seventh stolen base of the season. Vargas was walked during the next at-bat, putting runners on first and second base with no outs. Palka hit a grounder towards first base, and Culver threw the ball to second base for the force out leaving runners on the corners. Next up, Mitch Garver hit a sacrifice fly which enabled Walker to put another tally on the board for the Red Wings. With two outs, Murphy continued the momentum by hitting his second single of the evening. Meneses joined Murphy in obtaining his second hit of the game as well. Menesses' hit brought in another run for Rochester, which increased the lead to 4-0. Buxton was walked during the next at-bat; it was the third walk of the inning. Buxton's walk prompted a pitching change by Scranton/WB. Johnny Barbato was brought in to relieve Lail. The pitching change did not stop the Red Wings from finding ways to score. Beresford hit a single which brought in two runs to keep the Red Wings in the game. The hit was his third single of the evening. Tommy Field hit a flyout to right field to close out the inning. After three innings, the Red Wings led 6-0.

Lail pitched 2.2 innings with seven hits, six earned runs, four walks and one strikeout. He threw 91 pitches, 47 for strikes.

Through six innings, Duffey maintained a solid performance during the game with five strikeouts, and no hits or runs heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.

After a walk and a strikeout Scranton/WB brought in James Pazos to replace Barbato in the bottom of the sixth inning. Pazos struck out the next two batters to wrap up the sixth inning.

In the top of the seventh inning, Rob Refsnyder had the first hit of the night against Duffey. With two outs, Duffey walked Solano to put runners on first and second base. Jake Cave hit a two-RBI double to make the score 6-2.

In the top of the eighth inning, Buddy Boshers was brought in to relieve Duffey. Boshers joined the Wings today on a rehab assignment from the Twins.

Duffey worked seven innings and gave up two hits, two runs, two walks and struck out five batters. He threw 97 pitches, 61 for strikes.
