(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 15-5 on Wednesday night in the middle game of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark. In the win, Ducks starter John Brownell broke the all-time franchise record for innings pitched, surpassing Randy Leek's mark of 587 and one third innings set from 2007-10.

The Ducks cracked the scoreboard first with three two-out runs in the third inning off Bluefish starter R.J. Hively. A RBI double down the left field line by Dan Lyons and an opposite field two-run home run off the bat of Lew Ford did the damage. Four more runs for the Flock came across in the fifth on a grand slam to right by Tyler Colvin.

Long Island's offense continued in the sixth with four runs off Bluefish reliever Blake Beaven. RBI doubles by Matt Wessinger and Lyons, along with a two-run triple by Fehlandt Lentini, highlighted the inning. Bridgeport stormed back with five runs in the seventh off Brownell. A RBI double by Rossmel Perez, a RBI single by Luis Hernandez and a two-run single by Dan Johnson closed the gap to 11-5. However, the Ducks plated four more runs in the eighth on a RBI single by Sean Burroughs, a RBI double by Ruben Gotay and a two-run triple by Mike Dowd to round out the scoring.

Brownell (3-0) earned the win, pitching six and one-third innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks while striking out four. Hively (0-4) took the loss, giving up seven runs on eight hits and two walks with four strikeouts in five innings of work.

Lyons led the Flock with five hits in five at-bats, driving in two runs and scoring three times. Colvin finished with three hits and four RBI, while Dowd had three hits and two RBI.
