Duarte Homers Again, But 'hawks Drop Rubber Game

LANCASTER, Calif. - Osvaldo Duarte hit his fourth home run in 11 games with the JetHawks, but Lancaster dropped the rubber game to the Lake Elsinore Storm, 7-4, on Wednesday afternoon at The Hangar.
Duarte's home run, which hit off the batter's eye in center, led off the bottom of the first for Lancaster.
They added another run in the frame on a sacrifice fly by Bryan Muniz. The JetHawks would go on to record just two hits over the next six frames.
Lancaster native and Palmdale High School product Jerry Keel (1-0) recovered from a rough start to earn the win in his High-A debut. The left-hander tossed six innings and allowed just the two runs in the opening inning. He walked four and struck out four.
Franmil Reyes hit two home runs for Lake Elsinore and drove in three. He recorded nine runs batted in over the final two games of the series.
Lake Elsinore took the lead for good with three runs in the fifth. They added two in the seventh and two more in the ninth. Lancaster put its first two batters on in the bottom of the ninth, but came away with only one run on a Brooks Marlow RBI single.
Starter Rogelio Armenteros (6-3) suffered the loss for the JetHawks. The right-hander retired the first eight hitters he faced, but lasted only five innings. He struck out six.
With the win, Lake Elsinore moved to within 2.5 games of the JetHawks for first place in the second half South Division standings.
The JetHawks (60-49) host the Modesto Nuts in the opener of a four-game series on Thursday night at The Hangar. Dean Deetz (6-5) will start for Lancaster against Ryan Castellani (5-8). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
