Greenville Drive News Release

Greenville, SC - In an error-laden game, where the two teams combined for eight defensive miscues, it was the Drive who were able to capitalize more so than the Legends for a lopsided 19-8 victory. The Drive pounded out 19 hits on their way to a season-high in runs scored.

Despite recording just three hits in the first inning, the Legends (33-44, 2-5) were able to take advantage of two Greenville (34-42, 5-2) errors for four runs, three of which were unearned. Jhon Florentino, Drew Holder, Greg Buchanan each collected an RBI in the barrage.

The Legends added runs in the second and third innings, but the Drive used a steady scoring pace, plating all of their runs in six of the first seven innings. Josh Reddick got the Drive on the scoreboard with an RBI-single in their first at bat.

Trailing by six runs after just an inning and a half, the Drive continued their impressive comeback. After adding two runs in the second, Greenville pulled within one in the third inning. Matt Sheely and Mike Chambers recorded RBI-singles, while Kristopher Negron roped a run-scoring double. Argenis Diaz knocked in the final run of the inning with a groundout.

The Drive took a one run lead in the bottom of the fourth, on a sac fly by Jason Place, before pulling away in the fifth. Mike Chambers, who finished the game 3-for-5 at the plate, started the inning with a double before scoring on Lars Anderson's sacrifice fly. With two aboard, Jon Still added to his team-leading RBI total by stroking a double to plate both runners.

Greenville put the game out of reach in the bottom of the seventh, sending 13 runners to plate en route to scoring eight runs, the most in an inning this season for the Drive. Reddick began the onslaught with a two-run single, plating Anderson and Reid Engel.

Although he tallied just one hit, Jason Place made it count with a three-run bomb, his eighth homer of the season. Chih-Hsien Chiang, who game into the game as a pinch hitter, added a two-run double to straightaway center to closeout the scoring.

Relievers Jorge Rodriguez and Cody McAllister combined to pitch six scoreless innings, as each right-hander tossed three shutout frames. Rodriguez ran his record to a perfect 3-0 on the season, while McAllister earned his second save of the season.

The Drive will look to complete their second consecutive sweep at West End Field Thursday evening with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Daniel Bard will toe the rubber for Greenville as southpaw Doug Arguello goes for Lexington.
