Dragons On The Field

The Dragons will be returning home from a seven game road swing, their first trip away from Fifth Third Field this season. Shortstop Billy Hamilton, who led the Reds organization last year with 48 stolen bases, ranks among the leaders in all of minor league baseball in stolen bases in 2011.

Pitcher Josh Smith has put together two phenomenal starts. In his two outings, he has thrown twelve innings, while allowing just one earned run, three hits, and striking out 17 batters. Smith, who is in his second season with the Dragons, ranks among the Midwest League leaders in strikeouts.

Former major leaguer Delino DeShields leads the squad as the Dragons manager in 2011. He is in his third season in the Reds organization, having served as the manager of the Billings Mustangs last year and as the hitting coach in Billings in 2009. Tony Fossas is in his third season as pitching coach, and Alex Pelaez works in his first year as the team's hitting coach.
