Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

HIDALGO, TX: March 9, 2005 – The Rio Grande Valley Dorados of arenafootball2 will have two kickers in camp as the af2 assigned kicker Jonathan Feig to the Dorados 2005 roster.

“Each year, Doug Blevins (former Miami Dolphins kicking coach) will send me a kicker that he has trained for me and this year he highly recommends Jonathan,” said Dorados Head Coach Kevin Guy. “He will join Eric Houle in training camp and may the best man win.”

The 23 year-old Feig (feeg) shares the same birthdate (11/2/81) as Houle and brings in some great college accolades like Houle. Feig played three of four seasons (2000-2003) at NCAA Div. III Washington University in St.Louis and left ranking eighth in career scoring with 140 points and holding the University Athletic Association (UAA) record for the longest field goal. He completed the task, nailing a 51-yard field goal in his first ever game as a freshman (2000). Feig also converted three field goals during the same game to tie a school single-game record. His quick start led to UAA Rookie of the Year and back-to-back All-UAA First Team honors. He finished third in the nation in average field goals per game (1.63) as a freshman and tied for tenth as a sophomore (2001) in the same category (1.00). An injury sidelined him for the entire 2002 season, but he returned in 2003 and converted three of six field goal attempts and 18 of 20 PATs.

The Coral Springs, Florida native completed his college career going 26 for 45 in field goal attempts and was 63 of 70 (90%) in extra points. Prior to college, Feig was a three-year football letterman and four-year soccer letterman at J.P. Taravella High School, where he holds the school record for longest field goal made (48 yards). Feig was 16 for 21 in field goals during his high school career and converted on all 30 PATs, which led to him earning several honors and scholarships.

The addition of Feig places the Dorados roster with 25 members announced to the 2005 squad, joining Brian Baker (QB), Darvell Bivens (WR/DB), John Bradley (OL/DL), Mario Butler (WR/DB), Dwight Counter (WR/DB), J.R. Davies (QB), Sterling Finney (WR/DB), Marquis Floyd (WR/DB), Wil Goff (OL/DL), Will Goodloe (OL/DL), Eric Houle (K), Josh Kellett (QB), Marquis Landrom (WR/DB), Joseph Lemberg (OS), Moses Lewis (TBD), Jesse Mayfield (OL/DL), Travis McAlpine (WR/DB), Kenny McClain (OL/DL), Ben McCombs (DE, FB/LB), David Morrill (FB/LB), Antoine Murphy (OL/DL), Pierre Thomas (WR/DB) and Josh Tubbs (OL/DL). Media members seeking an interview with Feig or Coach Guy are encouraged to contact Chris Due with the Dorados at 956-843-5656.

The Dorados kick-off their 2005 campaign April 9th at the Dodge Arena, as they host the Louisville Fire. Season ticket packages and advertising opportunities are available by contacting the Dorados offices at 956-843-7825.
