Rio Grande Valley Dorados News Release

Hidalgo, Texas --- The Rio Grande Valley Dorados improved to 7-8 and continued their win streak to three games in a 33-17 win over the Austin Wranglers Saturday night at Dodge Arena.

The Dorados opened up a 21-3 lead at the half on reception TDs by Anthony Chambers and Eddie Jackson from rookie QB Tiger Lyon. Lyon also called his own number from the 1-yard run to give Rio a 14-3 lead with 48 seconds left in the first quarter. The RGV defense held the Wranglers to a field goal in the first quarter and shut down the Wranglers from the 2-yard line with time winding down in the first half.

The Wranglers cut the lead to 21-10 on a 1-yard run by QB Andy Hall for the only scoring in the third quarter. The Dorados answered back on 4-yard run by Robert May in the fourth quarter for the Rio Grande Valley, upping their lead to 28-10.

Hall hit his favorite receiver on the night, John Roberson, with a 21-yard TD pass, to make it a 28-17 game but that was all the Wranglers could muster against a tough Dorado defense. The Dorados added a safety and Brian Hazelwood field goal to round out the scoring at 33-17.

The Dorados host to the Lubbock Renegades in the regular season finale next Saturday at the Dodge Arena. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. Fans will receive a Dorados Dancers Bikini poster.

Dorados single game tickets are available at all TicketMaster outlets, including online (www.ticketmaster.com) and at the Dodge Arena Box Office. Group tickets are available by calling 956-843-7825 and are as low as $12 per game.
