August 28, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- The 2009 Eastern League All-Star Team was announced today, and former New Hampshire Fisher Cat Brian Dopirak was named the league's all-star designated hitter. Dopirak, who represented the Fisher Cats at the mid-season Eastern League All-Star Game in July, led the league in home runs (19), RBI (68), doubles (29) and extra-base hits (49) when he was promoted to the Triple-A Las Vegas 51s of the Pacific Coast League by the Fisher Cats' parent club, the Toronto Blue Jays, on July 16.
Dopirak, 25, still leads the league in slugging percentage (.576), which is the best SLG% in franchise history, and he ranks sixth in the EL in batting average (.308), which will tie him with Rob Cosby (2005) for the third-highest AVG. ever recorded by a Fisher Cat. The 19 homers will tie the Dunedin, FL, native for fifth in single-season history (Adam Lind, David Smith-2006).
