‘Dogs Win Third Straight

Philadelphia, PA - Bulldogs goaltender Yann Danis stopped 17 of the 18 shots he faced as Hamilton defeated the Philadelphia Phantoms by a score of 3-1 on Friday night at Wachovia Spectrum. The victory was Hamilton's third straight, which matches the team's season high. The Bulldogs record now stands at 11-17-0-2.

Jean-Francois Jacques gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead at the 5:32 mark of the opening frame with Hamilton on the power play. Marc-Antoine Pouliot centered the puck to Jacques, who beat Phantoms goaltender Martin Houle. Hamilton outshot Philadelphia by a margin of 14-6 in the first period.

The Bulldogs took a 2-0 lead just 55 seconds into the second period when Corey Locke one-timed a Brad Winchester pass behind Houle.

Hamilton extended their lead to three goals when they potted their second power-play marker of the game at 4:09 of the third period. Francis Lemieux, who was left alone at the side of the Phantoms net, potted his eighth of the season.

Philadelphia ended Danis' shutout bid at 9:39 when Eric Chouinard collected his fourth marker of the season.

Hamilton forward Jonathan Ferland played his first game since October 26 after missing the last 23 contests with an MCL injury. Bulldogs defenseman Danny Syvret recorded two assists for the second straight game.

Danis earned his fifth win of the season. Philadelphia netminder Houle made 36 saves and was named the game's third star.

Hamilton scored twice on nine opportunities with the man-advantage while Philadelphia went 0 for 5 on the power play.

The Bulldogs next action will take place tomorrow night, when they continue their road trip and face the Hershey Bears at the GIANT Center. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
