New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey suffered their toughest loss of the season, in a wild 9-8 finish at Fraser Field, thanks to a disputed call to the end night.

For the second consecutive evening, the Jackals jumped out to an quick 3-0 lead. After a two-out base hit and an error that allowed Wilton Veras to reach safely, Marcos Rodriguez belted a three-run homerun to right. But fittingly, the Spirit didn't stay down for long as they struck for four in the bottom half of the inning. Mike Torres notched a two RBI single, Alex Trezza collected an RBI double, and Josue Lopez added an RBI single, all coming off of Jackal starter Ryan Pacyna.

Pacyna was removed from the game after just acquiring one out in the second, following a two-run homerun by Vic Davilla.

Down 6-3 entering the third, the Jackals used the longball again to draw themselves within one. A Wilton Veras two run jack did the damage. They'd tie the game at six in the next inning on an RBI groundout by Joe Mihalics.

The barrage of runs continued in the top of the fifth as they ran Joey Siak from the ballgame. Madera's ground rule double scored one, and he eventually came around to score on an error by third baseman Nilson Teilson. After four and a half innings, the Jackals led 8-6.

Jerson Perez collected an RBI single in the eighth to cut the deficit to one, setting up the wild ninth inning.

In the ninth, Josue Lopez collected an RBI single to tie the game. With no one out and runners at first and second, Teilon lifted a fly ball to the warning track that was incredibly tracked down by Jud Thigpen in left. Thigpen then fired back into the infield to get an out at second, and another at first for a triple play, or so we thought. After a 15 minute delay, the umpires questionably ruled that pinch runner Joe Hough had tagged up at second. Hough had crossed home plate while the Jackals looked to have turned the triple play, and that ended up being the game winning run.

Pavlik was sensation in long relief for New Jersey. He lasted 6.1 innings, while giving up just two hits, one run, none earned. He walked none and struck out four. Sadly, he didn't factor in the decision.

Donny Langdon took the win in relief, while Kyle George took the loss.
