DiFlorio Jersey Retirement Night Saturday, December 15th

The Harrisburg Heat will return to the field this Saturday, December 15th vs. Detroit and retire the jersey worn by one of its most decorated Legends, former Heat player and current Heat assistant coach, Gino DiFlorio.

One of the all-time leading scorers in professional indoor soccer, DiFlorio will be honored at half-time as part of the "Heat's Legends Series". The game is also HMMS Night, the local youth soccer organization for which DiFlorio is the Coaching Director.

"Gino has been a tremendous inspiration as a player and now as my assistant coach with the Heat," stated Chinapoo. "Gino years of experience, professionalism and passion for the game are indispensable and an example for our young Heat players."

Born in Italy, raised in Canada, and now a US citizen, DiFlorio began his professional soccer career in the original Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), joining the Cleveland Force for the 1984-85 season. Gino joined the Harrisburg Heat from 1998 through 2002, being named the 2000-01 Heat Most Valuable Player before finishing his 19-year playing career following the 2002-2003 season with the Baltimore Blast.

"I am so honored to be recognized in this manner by the new Harrisburg Heat," added DiFlorio, "I would like to personally thank Heat Managing Partner and General Manager David Grimaldi for this tribute."

DiFlorio finished the 1990-91 season as the league's leading scorer as a midfielder. In the 1992-93 season he completed the season as the league's third leading scorer and as the league's fifth leading scorer in 1993-94. He was the AISA-NPSL's third all-time leading scorer with 1,594 points and second all-time goal scorer with 610 as well as being an eight-time NPSL All-Star and four-time All-NPSL selection and The Heat has honored fellow Heat players Richard Chinapoo, Bill Becher, and Danny Kelly so far this season. The Heat entertains Detroit this Saturday at 7:05pm.
