Diamond Jaxx lose 15 inning marathon

Pearl, MS- Matt Craig's fielding error with two outs in the bottom of the 15th inning scored Jon Schuerholz with the winning run as the Mississippi Braves defeated the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx 2-1 in fifteen innings. This was the longest game played by the Diamond Jaxx this season.

Talley Haines (4-2) struckout pitcher Glen Tucker leading off the 15th inning then gave up back-to-back singles by Schuerholz and Joshua Arteaga. With runners at first and second, Gregor Blanco reached on a fielders choice as Arteaga was erased at second. Onil Joseph came up with two outs and runners at first and third. Joseph hit a ground ball that went off the heel of Craig's glove. Ryan Theriot, backing up Craig on the play, grabbed the ball but his throw to Craig at first wasn't in time as Schuerholz scored the winning run.

Tucker (3-2) picked up the win for the Braves as he pitched a scoreless inning in relief. Each team had fifteen hits in the game with the Diamond Jaxx stranding thirteen men on the basepaths. The Braves stranded eighteen men on base. Game four of the five game series takes place on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Carmen Pignatiello (5-3 2.69) gets the start for the Diamond Jaxx. The Braves will counter with RHP Matt Wright (5-6 6.44).
