Albany Devils News Release

HARTFORD, CT - The Albany Devils did not lead against the Connecticut Whale Saturday at XL Center until the final 2:19. The team rallied from three deficits and Harri Pesonen netted the game-winning goal on a breakaway in the closing minutes to give the Devils a 4-3 win.

Albany extends its winning streak to five games, tying a franchise record. The team won five in a row three other times: Nov. 21-29, 2008, Nov. 7-14, 2009 and Mar. 9-16, 2011. The victory improves the Devils to above .500 for the first time this season at 9-8-0-5.

Tim Sestito, Eric Gelinas and Bobby Butler all scored for Albany. Sestito registered his second of the season, while Gelinas posted his first. Butler, who tied a franchise record with four goals and five points Wednesday, extended his scoring streak to five games with his team-leading ninth tally.

Notably, Jacob Josefson, who sprung Pesonen for the winner, and Mattias Tedenby both had two assists.

Keith Kinkaid moved his winning streak to five games by making 15 saves.

Connecticut received goals from Ryan Bourque, Kris Newbury and Christian Thomas. In goal, Cameron Talbot made 28 stops. Albany outshot Connecticut, 32-18.

The Devils trailed at 6:50 of the first thanks to Bourque's tally, but answered with Sestito's goal at 1:35 of the second. After Newbury regained the advantage for the Whale at 8:26, Gelinas sent in a blast at 8:44.

The second period scoring continued at 12:18 with a two-man advantage goal by Thomas, but again the Devils responded. This time, Butler found the back of the net at 17:27.

The Devils return to Times Union Center Saturday for a 7 pm contest against the Providence Bruins. Fans can follow the action on 104.5 "The Team" ESPN Radio.
