BINGHAMTON, NY - Brett Seney scored his first professional goal and Jake Walman converted in the fifth round of the shootout as the Binghamton Devils defeated the visiting Syracuse Crunch in comeback fashion, 4-3. The win took place in front of 4,496 fans at Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday night.

Cal Foote scored in his first professional game on a shot from the right point to give the Crunch a 1-0 lead. Foote took a pass from Alexander Volkov and fired a shot on net that deflected off a Devils player in front of the net and by the glove of Eddie Lack. The goal came 10:41 into the game with assists from Volkov and Matt Bodie.

Syracuse added to the lead on the power play on another deflected shot from the point. This time, Gabriel Dumont got his stick on an Erik Cernak shot from the right point for his fifth goal of the year for a 2-0 lead. The power-play goal came at 15:38 with assists from Cernak and Mathieu Joseph and the Crunch took a two-goal lead into the second period.

Binghamton stormed back in the middle frame to toe the game heading into the third period. Blake Pietila took a Nick Lappin pass and one timed the puck over the right shoulder of goaltender Eddie Pasquale to pull within one. The goal was Pietila's 11th of the year, on the power play, from Lappin and Christoph Bertschy.

Brett Seney electrified the crowd with his first professional goal with just two seconds remaining in the second period. Lappin puck the puck on net and Seney buried the rebound to tie the game with almost no time left on the clock. Seney's power-play goal was assisted by Lappin and Pietila and the game was tied to start the third period with the Devils holding a 23-11 shot advantage.

Certer Verhaeghe put home his 16th of the year just 4:05 into the third period as the puck just slid over the goal line to give the Crunch another one-goal lead, 3-2. Assists were credited to Matthew Peca and Volkov for the lead.

The Devils tied the game up yet again as Kevin Rooney flipped in his 13th goal of the year at the 6:59 mark of the third. Rooney's goal was assisted by Lappin for his third point of the night to eventually force overtime and then a shootout.

Pietila and Michael McLeod both scored to keep the shootout going for the Devils and Jake Walman won it in the fifth round of the shootout for the 4-3 win. Lack stopped 18 of 21 in the win while Pasquale put away 36 of 39 in the loss.
