Flint Firebirds News Release
The Dallas Stars announced today that the club has signed Flint Firebirds' forward Ty Dellandrea to a three-year NHL entry-level contract. As per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Dellandrea, 18, agreed to terms with Dallas after playing in his first NHL pre-season game with the Stars Tuesday night against the St. Louis Blues. He became the first Flint Firebird to be selected in the first-round of an NHL Draft when the Stars picked him 13th overall at the 2018 NHL Draft on June 22, 2018.
Dellandrea skating for the Firebirds on December 28th, 2017 at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint.
Last night, Dellandrea logged 9:42 of time on ice (TOI) and recorded one shot on goal against the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward enjoyed a breakout campaign for Flint this season, finishing second on the Firebirds' roster in scoring with 59 points (27G, 32A) and 48 penalty minutes in 67 games, all career-highs.
Dellandrea has spent the last two seasons with the Flint Firebirds' franchise after being selected by Flint in the first-round, fifth overall of the 2016 OHL Draft.
"On behalf of the Flint Firebirds organization, we want to congratulate Ty and his family on signing with the Dallas Stars," said Flint Firebirds Vice President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Barclay Branch. "It's a reflection of Ty's hard work, desire and commitment that he's put himself in this position and we could not be more happy for him."
The Port Perry, Ont. native has amassed 83 points (40G, 43A) in 124 career regular-season contests in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Dellandrea played his youth hockey with the Central Ontario Wolves AAA Hockey Team in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association's Eastern AAA Hockey League (OMHA-ETA).
