Defensive Back Micheaux Robinson Returns to Sharks

December 5, 2016 - National Arena League (NAL)
Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive back Micheaux Robinson has been signed to the Jacksonville roster.

Micheaux Robinson (5'9,185) will begin his eighth season with the Sharks, and ninth season in arena football. "The Pitbull" is the only player in Shark's history to compete for the Sharks every season since the team's inaugural season in 2010. Robinson is also the team's career leader with 348 solo tackles, 32 interceptions, 145 pass breakups and 65 assists and holds the AFL record for single-season pass break ups with 51 (2011).

In 2016, Robinson played a limited role during the regular season playing in only two games, totaling six solo tackles and 5 assists. However, after an injury to defensive back Greg Reid in the first round of the playoffs, Robinson started in the American Conference Championship against the Philadelphia Soul where he played a major role for the Sharks. During the game Robinson landed nine solo tackles, which was the second most overall made in the game next to Laroche Jackson with ten.

During the Sharks' 2015 ArenaBowl run, Robinson sat out the entire season for the Sharks but joined the team again during postseason play, this time in the ArenaBowl XXVIII. In 2014, "The Pitbull" started all 18 games, recording 82 tackles, 22 pass breakups and five interceptions. Robinson has a breakout year with the ArenaBowl XXIV championship team, earning First Team All-Arena honors recording 114.5 tackles, 11 interceptions and a record breaking 51 pass breakups. During ArenaBowl XXIV, Robinson was named Defensive Player of the Game racking up eight tackles, two pass breakups and an interception that led to the Sharks 73 to 70 victory over the Arizona Rattlers.

During Robinson's career in arena football, he spent half a season with the Sharks, then finished the year off with the Philadelphia Soul in 2012. Robinson has also played for the Orlando Predators in 2007, however, with seven seasons under his belt as a Jacksonville Shark, there is no doubt "The Pitbull" will remain a part of Sharks history as he enters his eighth season with the team in 2017.

Prior to his professional career, Micheaux Robinson attended Otterbein College, a division III school in Westerville, Ohio where he tied for most interceptions in school history. He was named D3football.com's All-American Honorable Mention in 2003 and was All-Ohio Athletic Conference in 2013 & 2014. In high school, Robinson was a three sport athlete who played football, basketball and baseball at Fostoria High School in Fostoria, Ohio where was born and raised.
