July 25, 2017 - Texas League (TL) - Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI - Enyel De Los Santos allowed three hits over seven shutout innings as San Antonio defeated Corpus Christi 10-1 Monday night at Whataburger Field before 4,709.

De Los Santos (8-4), who retired 16 of the final 18 Hooks he faced, recorded eight strikeouts against no walks. Sixty-eight of his 97 pitches were strikes.

Nick Torres posted three RBIs and had three hits, as did Josh Naylor . Franmil Reyes drove in four runs.

The Missions (19-12; 60-41) batted around in a four-run, four-hit, two-walk second vs. Akeem Bostick (4-3). Torres produced a two-out, two-run single, Webster Rivas a one-out, one-run, one-base hit. Noah Perio walked on four pitches with the bases loaded.

Naylor and Ty France also singled in the uprising.

Bostick (4-3) breezed through the third and fourth innings before Reyes sent him to the showers by blasting a two-run homer to left, his 12th of 2017. Bostick, touched for seven hits and two walks, lasted 4 1/3 frames and 85 pitches. He struck out three.

Torres put Alex Winkelman 's initial pitch of the seventh onto the left-field berm, lengthening the San Antonio lead to 7-0. Reyes tagged Winkelman for a two-run yard shot to right in the ninth.

T.J. Weir worked the final two innings for San Antonio. He solved a bases-loaded jam in the eighth, but permitted a searing line-drive RBI single by Dexture McCall with runners at the corners during the Hooks' final turn.

Corpus Christi slipped to 15-16 and 49-52.

Rivas owns a 10-game hitting streak.

The teams reconvene Tuesday at 7:05, Hooks right-hander Yoanys Quiala (2-2) facing Brett Kennedy (9-5). It's Mike Shaw Automotive Family Night and Half-Price Group Night.
