De Jong's Clutch Performance Earns Him NASL Team of the Week Selection

OTTAWA, ON - Ottawa Fury FC defender Marcel De Jong was named to the NASL Team of the Week following his clutch performance in the club's 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon against Minnesota United FC, the league announced Wednesday.
The 29-year-old Canadian International put on a show against Minnesota as he scored the stoppage-time equalizer and was also involved in the play that lead to Ottawa's first goal, an own goal charged to the Loons's defender Jeb Brovsky.
The Newmarket, Ontario native becomes the fourth member of Fury FC to be named to the NASL Team of the Week joining Idan Vered (Week 2), Fernando Timbo (Week 5) and Lance Rozeboom (Week 5).
With a win and a draw from their last two fixtures. Fury FC hope to carry that confidence into the first leg of the Amway Canadian Championship Preliminary Round tonight against FC Edmonton at Clarke Field. The return leg will be played in Ottawa at TD Place on May 18. The winner will meet the Vancouver Whitecaps in the semifinal stage of the competition.
