Dazzle Defense Dominates Toros in 94-80 Win

ROANOKE, Va. - Isiah Victor scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds to lead the Roanoke Dazzle to a 94-80 victory over the Austin Toros at the Roanoke Civic Center.

The Dazzle entered the game giving up an average of 110.7 points per game, a NBA Development League high.

Despite this high average, the Dazzle opened the game extremely stingy only giving up 11 points to the Toros in the first quarter while racing out to a 19 point lead at 30-11 after one.

In the second the Toros mounted a rally behind seven points from Omar Thomas, who had 11 for the game. The Toros shaved the Dazzle lead to nine, 50-41, at the break.

The Dazzle opened the second half much as they did in the first, racing out to a big lead behind 11 points from Victor. The Dazzle would end the third up 18 at 78-60.

The Dazzle lead would jump to 24 points in the fourth quarter before the team put it into cruise control to reach the final margin of 94-80.

Dazzle Coach Kent Davison was pleased with his team's defensive effort saying "This was one of our best defensive efforts this season. We really got out on the perimeter and defended them, when they missed shots we hit the boards well."

For the game the Dazzle had five players score in double figures. Victor's 29 led the way while Anthony Grundy put up 16 points, Bryant Matthews dropped 14, Seth Doliboa had 13 and Peter Ramos chipped in with 11 points.

The Toros had four players reach double figures in scoring with Ramel Curry leading the way with 18, Jamar Smith put up a double-double with 14 points to go with 14 rebounds and both Ezra Williams and Thomas had 11 points.

With the win the Dazzle jump to 21-20 overall while the Toros' loss drops them to 20-19 on the season. These two teams will face each other again Saturday, in an afternoon matinee' at 4:00 p.m. at the Roanoke Civic Center.
