Dawson Weatherill Joins Five Teammates in Central Scouting's Updated Rankings

November 16, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

Spokane Chiefs goaltender Dawson Weatherill cracked the recently updated National Hockey League Central Scouting "Players to Watch" list, joining five of his teammates as potential draft selections for next summer's 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

The list is a compilation of top prospects from all major development leagues throughout North America and Europe. It is broken down by "A", "B" or "C" rating, with the "A" designation indicating a potential first-round selection. "B" ratings predict second or third-round picks and "C" indicate players with fourth to sixth-round grades.

Weatherill, a 6-foot-4 goalie acquired by the Chiefs in a trade with the Red Deer Rebels earlier this season, earned a "C" rating to join forwards Kailer Yamamoto (A), Jaret Anderson-Dolan (B), Ethan McIndoe (C), Pavel Kousal (C) and Jake McGrew (C). Weatherill has appeared in 12 games for Spokane so far this season, posting a 2.94 GAA and .899 SV% with a 4-4-2-1 record.

Originally from Red Deer, Alberta, Weatherill was a second round pick by the Rebels in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. He played five games with Red Deer last season.
