David Bell Named Assistant Coach

Springfield, MA - The Springfield Falcons, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced today that David Bell has been named assistant coach of the Falcons by their National Hockey League affiliate, the Edmonton Oilers. Bell will join Springfield head coach Kelly Buchberger and assistant coach Jeff Truitt to complete the Falcons' coaching staff for the 2007-08 season.

Bell has spent the previous three seasons as an assistant coach with the Ontario Hockey League's Owen Sound Attack after retiring as a player following the 2003-04 campaign. During his tenure with the Attack, Bell was a member of a coaching staff that led Owen Sound to a franchise best 40-win and 90-point campaign in 2004-05. Bell played a total of seven professional seasons splitting time between the AHL, ECHL, UHL and WCHL.

The 30-year-old Bell spent time with the Falcons as a player from 1999-2001. During the 1999-00 campaign, Bell played in 48 games with Springfield totaling one goal and one assist and 174 penalty minutes.

The Falcons will play their home opener on Saturday, October 6 when they host the Worcester Sharks at the MassMutual Center. Single game tickets for the 2007-08 campaign go on sale at the MassMutual Center Box Office on Saturday, September 22 starting at 10:00 am. The Falcons will be entering their 14th AHL season, and first year with the Edmonton Oilers as their NHL affiliate. The Falcons are currently accepting deposits on full, half, and 10-game ticket packages for the 2007-08 season, in addition to 40 and 10-Flex Packs.
