Dash Forwards Prince, Agnew Named to Canada Roster for Algarve Cup

HOUSTON - Houston Dash forwards Lindsay Agnew and Nichelle Prince were named to the Canadian Women's National Team roster for the 2018 Algarve Cup, Canada Soccer announced today.

Agnew, 22, was acquired in a trade with the Washington Spirit on Jan. 16. The forward tallied an assist in eight games for the Spirit last year after being selected in the second round of the 2017 NWSL College Draft by Washington. Internationally, the Kingston, Ontario native made her debut with the Canadian youth program in 2011 where she won a silver medal at the 2012 CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship.

Prince has finished with three goals and one assist in her rookie season for the Dash. The Ajax, Ontario native has scored six goals and tallied four assists in 32 appearances since making her debut with the senior team in 2013 at the age of 17.

The Algarve Cup, which dates back to 1994, is a global invitational tournament for women's national teams hosted in the Algarve region of Portugal by the Portuguese Football Federation. The 2018 Algarve Cup starts on Feb. 28 and runs through March 7 and will feature five of the top 10 teams in the most recent FIFA World Rankings, including Canada (fifth), Australia (fourth), the Netherlands (seventh), Japan (ninth) and Sweden (10th).
