Darius Morris' Double-Double Lifts Vipers over the Knicks

Hidalgo, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (10-4), NBA D-League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, were led by Darius Morris in the 126-109 win over Westchester Knicks (6-4) in the annual Kid's Day Game. The seats in the State Farm Arena were filled with students from across various school districts of the Rio Grande Valley.

Darius Morris had a double-double with 25 points and 12 assists. Chinanu Onuaku had a double-double as well with 13 rebounds and 16 points. Kyle Wiltjer had 22 points in the game. Doron Lamb led the Westchester Knicks with 18 points.

The fans were treated with a scoring showdown in the first quarter. The Westchester Knicks took an early lead and finished the opening quarter on top of the home team by a score of 32-42. All ten players of the Knicks scored in the first quarter and shot at a 65.4 percent.

The Vipers cut down the Knick's lead in the second half. Kyle Wiltjer scored 11 in the second quarter to help the Vipers close the gap and finish the half behind by just one point, 63-64. Wiltjer finished the half with 16 points while Darius Morris had 12 at half.

In the third quarter, the Vipers took over the game and started to extend their own lead. Chinanu Onuaku scored eight on the quarter while Morris added eight as well to finish the third quarter on top 93-86. Rio Grande Valley scored six three pointers in the final quarter, Chris Johnson had two coming off the bench.

The Rio Grande Valley Vipers hit the road to take on Salt Lake City Stars in a back-to-back series. The first of two games tips off on Friday, December 16.
