Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
FORT WORTH, Texas (March 21) - The Central Hockey League announced Thursday that Fort Worth Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong was named 2012-13 CHL Coach of the Year, receiving seven of the nine possible first-place votes and two second-place votes.
Wildfong has led Fort Worth to a 36-20-8 record so far this season - third best in the CHL - and the team's sixth consecutive postseason appearance since he took over for the 2007-08 campaign.
The Clinton, Ontario native won his 200th career game with the Brahmas this season in the team's 4-3 overtime victory over the Allen Americans January 12. In six seasons behind the bench, Wildfong has posted a 217-135-36 record in the regular season. He is one of only two coaches in franchise history with a winning record - along with Bill McDonald, who went 41-17-11 during the 1997-98 campaign. His 217 wins are the most in franchise history, well above the next highest total - 62 by Terry Menard.
Wildfong is also 31-22 in postseason play. In the 2009 playoffs, he led the team to a 12-4 record and a Ray Miron President's Cup Championship, eliminating the Colorado Eagles in game five of the CHL Finals.
For Wildfong, the award is the first of his coaching career.
The Brahmas close out the regular season with games against the Arizona Sundogs in Prescott Valley Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23.
The Brahmas have clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the Central Hockey League postseason. For information on playoff ticket packages or single-game tickets, please contact a Brahmas sales representative at 817-336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com.
