Port Huron Fighting Falcons News Release

PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Fighting Falcons, proud members of the North American Hockey League, are pleased to announce that forward Dan Dupell has signed a commitment to play NCAA Division 3 hockey for the Plymouth State University Panthers.

A native of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, Dupell will move on to the Plymouth, New Hampshire campus this fall after completing his junior hockey career with the Fighting Falcons.

The 20-year-old Dupell was acquired in a trade with the Topeka Roadrunners, where he played over 150 games, in January. Since the trade, Dupell has tallied 12 points on six goals and six assists in 19 regular season games with the Fighting Falcons, and has added two assists in five playoff contests.

Overall, Dupell has played nearly 200 NAHL games, reaching the playoffs in each of his three seasons, and current career totals of 92 points on 49 goals and 43 assists.

"We are really happy that Dan has made his commitment to Plymouth State," said Fighting Falcons Head Coach and General Manager Michael Gershon. "He has really worked hard since we brought him in. He is one of the smartest players I've ever coached and someone who is capable of being very successful on and off the ice in the future."

Dupell is the seventh current Fighting Falcon to sign a college commitment this season, which is more than any other North division team. Including alumni, ten current and former Fighting Falcons have signed college commitments this season, the second-highest total in the NAHL.

Dupell and the Fighting Falcons return to home ice for game three of their North division semi-final matchup with the Soo Eagles Thursday at 7 p.m. at McMorran Arena. Port Huron trails the Soo 0-2 in the best-of-five series, and needs a win to force a game four Friday night at McMorran. Seats in any section are available at the McMorran Arena Box Office for just $8.
