Dakota Gets the Split

Bismarck, N.D. (Dec. 11, 2011) - The Dakota Wizards led for the majority of the game Sunday afternoon against the visiting Tulsa 66ers and prevailed with a 93-80 win. Dakota outscored Tulsa 32-20 in the final frame behind 14 fourth quarter points from Maurice Baker as he went 4-5 from the field and 6-6 from the free throw line. Baker finished with a game high 23 points, 8 assists, and 8 rebounds.

Dakota set the tempo from the start as they took an early lead. Shy Ely and Justin Johnson came out firing and combined for 13 of Dakota's 19 first quarter points, leading 19-16 after one frame. Tulsa briefly took the lead early in the second but Dakota continued to fire away as they took a 42-36 lead into the locker rooms.

Dakota pushed their lead to 11 with 6:41 remaining in the third but Tulsa would go on an 18-9 run to close out the quarter. Dakota held a slim one point lead heading into the final frame. Baker took control in the fourth and proved to be too much for Tulsa to handle. Dakota shot 12 free throws in the quarter while the 66ers did not shoot any.

Curtis Withers recorded a double-double on the night grabbing 14 rebounds to go along with his 10 points.

Nkem Ojougboh and Ryan Reid scored 15 points apiece to lead the way for Tulsa.

With the win, Dakota evens out at .500 with a 3-3 record while Tulsa drops to 5-3.
